Biography

Since graduating from Mount Royal College in May of 1987, Karen had a brief career in retail design in Calgary until her move to Vancouver late in 1987. She has worked steadily since then, and has many years of experience in commercial office interiors, combined with a selection of restaurant, and retail projects. She has headed many projects while working with other design firms as well as independent projects. She is also accustomed to working as part of a design team on large-scale projects. Her attention to detail, technical expertise, creativity and professionalism has resulted in successful completion of past projects.

Karen’s involvement with N.C.I.D.Q. and with the local professional organization brought her recognition, and she served on the Board of Management of the Interior Designers Institute of B.C. for four and one half years from 1998 until 2003, two of those as President.

Garry Steinhilber

[ Interior Design Technologist ]

Garry Steinhilber is an interior design technologist with a strong background in architectural millwork. Some of his past projects include airports, universities, hospitals, corporate head offices, multi-unit townhouse complexes, multi-tower residential complexes, ski resorts, museums, restaurants, dental offices, and high-end private residences. Garry is also proficient in a variety of tools including Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD, AutoLISP, SketchUp, and Blender.

Garry is currently boosting his skill set with photogrammetry, 3D modeling, and photorealistic rendering.

David Hanson

[ RID (Fellow), FIDC, FIIDA ]

A graduate of Ryerson University’s Interior Design program, David’s combination of creativity, technical expertise, careful attention to detail, and professionalism have made him a leader in the interior design community. His extensive experience in commercial design and stellar record of quality projects have garnered DH Designs an impressive client list that includes Air Canada, Accenture and SAP. Additionally, his time as Interiors Studio Director at Gustavson Wylie Architects has given him the opportunity to design interiors for prestigious clients such as lululemon athletica, HSBC Bank, Hemmera Envirotech & JMR Law.

Over the past 25 years David has served on the boards of the IDIBC, IDC, IIDA & CIDQ. After completing two terms on the Chicago based IIDA as VP of Professional Development, David served as the inaugural President of IDC after restructuring. He also served on the executive board of the International Federation of Interior Designers/Architects (IFI) as well as maintaining volunteer positions with IDC & CIDQ Most recently he completed a term on the executive of CIDQ serving as President in 2016. His contributions have been recognized by being made a fellow of both IIDA & IDIBC and his contribution to the design community has also included teaching Interior Design students at Kwantlen University.

Andrea Green

Andrea’s expertise in merging concept, design and innovation with in-depth cost-conscious control provides her clients with full-service design solutions.

Celebrating 35 years in the local industry, Andrea literally grew up in the design business, partnering with the family firm, David Green Design Group Ltd., before starting Artistic License Design Inc. An accomplished artist and award-winning designer, Andrea has extensive experience in both corporate and residential design, and her creative excellence and design professionalism have earned her a loyal client base: 98% of her work is for returning clients or through their referrals.
